Franky Rizado - Real Love

I thought i might add a nice recent mix of Frankys that i found in my travels. :D

Audio Jack & Kevin Knapp - These Days

Found a track by Audio Jack & Kevin Knapp, well 3 actually. Im loving the Lyrics in this, for me i cant decide which mix is the keeper, its a toss up between the Jimmy Edgar remix and the Original Mix, im thinking the original justs takes it. Thoughts?

"We’ve teamed up once again with our friend and vocalist Kevin Knapp on These Days. The lyrics are a tale of some of the changes we’ve experienced in the music world in the last few years. As we are interested in the story being heard we’ve kept the track unobtrusive whilst simple changes in the pace and energy keeps the track interesting. "

Timmus

Mosca

Boooom Mosca!!!!! , His tracks obviously built to Power the dance floor, but at the same time packed with complexion. This guy can produce, he tunes his tracks to perfection balancing out his sounds from his low wobbling Baselines to his sharp snares and crisp hi hats. He draws influences from uk garage funky, hiphop and all types of underground deep, soulful and techy house, as well as dabbling in techno, world beats. He has also done some work with one of all our favourites, Julio Bashmore.

Two Bears Essential Mix

Heres a essential mix that i think comes close to being my essential mix of the year so far, Jo Goddard and Raf Rundell, who make The Two Bears, this mix was Recorded on the 21/01/2012. They were  supposed to be a trio called The Three Bears with Jo Mount from Metronomy but settled on a duo in the end.

A lot of track listings that i have found are naming one of my favourite tunes @ 73 Mins in DJ Kaze - Curl, from what i have found i think that the track is actually by Chymera.

There are a couple of tracks that are a stand out here for me;

Man i really could keep going every track in this mix is bangin

Andrea Oliva

In 1994, in a small Swiss village called Moehlin, a 13-year-old boy watched older kids play trance and techno records at a local youth centre. The young boy, fascinated by the sounds of the spinning vinyl, asked the teenagers if they could show him how to DJ. In that instant, Andrea Oliva set off on a path that 17 years later led him all the way to the front doors of Luciano's Cadenza label.

It was a journey that began in the most innocent of ways. After saving up for his first mixer and turntables, the young dreamer taught himself how to mix by playing with the only records that he could afford - 10 packs of rejected, forgotten 12-inches that he found in the bargain bin of his local record store.

By the time Andrea had built up a sizable collection of awful music, he knew how to DJ. It was only when he began working an after school job at a record distribution company aged 16, that he was able to update his record collection properly. With access to the most upfront promos and white labels from Europe and beyond, soon Andrea had secured bookings at Switzerland's top clubs. By the time he turned 17, he was a resident DJ at three of them - Terminus, Pravda, and Pacha Zurich.

The next stage of his DJ career was fruitful. Teaming up with local club kid Agi Isaku (who now owns the successful Swiss club Nordstern), Andrea began hosting parties across Switzerland and before long their Banditz events were a sell out. Their reputation for putting on brilliant club nights had soon spread across the continent, all the way to Ibiza, where Andrea was invited to DJ regularly at Space for their club night In Bed With Space.

Productions followed next, with Andrea keen to share his musical creations with the world. His debut release was in 2004 on Swedish imprint Joia Records. A few years later, as he became more prolific in the studio and began to forge a sound, Andrea released tracks on Viva Music, Saved Records, Be As One, Hideout, and Cadenza Lab.

Today Andrea Oliva is a fully committed member of Luciano's Cadenza family. Despite admitting that he is a DJ first and foremost, Andrea's productions have continued to blossom into ever more impressive shapes. Take his recent 'Click Off' EP on Cadenza [Feb 2012], a four track collection of smart, energetic house music. With a wide and absorbing palette of percussion, instruments, tones, and rhythms, the EP is a perfect example of how Andrea is able to translate his significant DJing experiences into beautifully composed electronic music.

Andrea Oliva is also not afraid to get down and dirty with his productions. The recent low slung house track ‘Scene’ on Israel’s Be As One label combined elements of booty shaking house and rude vocals into an intoxicating urban groove. Both ‘Scene’ and ‘Click Off’ made it into the Beatport Top 10 Downloads chart. Due to his production successes, Andrea’s profile has recently soared - in both February and March 2012, he was the most charted artist on Resident Advisor - some of the biggest DJs in the business are playing and charting his music.

Gigs wise, Andrea DJs often at Cadenza events at Ibiza's Pacha and Ushuaia, as well as at Berlin's Panorama Bar, which he says is probably his favourite club in the world to spin at. He also loves Basel's Nordstern club, where he is a resident DJ. His studio is also located in the creative space.

Le'Cartel

So I've been working afternoon shift all week and finished work around 10:30 last night, and thought its not often i get a friday morning off, so thought i would drop by Le'Cartel (Kings Cross) to check out their fortnightly VILYL ONLY night, Just:Wax. It took me a bit to find it google maps didn't exactly show me accurately where it was on Victoria St but i eventually found it above Infinity Bakery about 100m-200m south of the coca-cola sign.

Its nice and Cosy upstairs plenty of seating with a small balcony, nice space to see the Dj in a more intimate environment. Love the vinyl's hanging on the wall behind the booth, bar staff were very welcoming, was even greeted with a nice nip of really old Rum. I managed to catch the end of Gabby's set, digging deep in that old record crate.

Definitely a must to check out, sounds like these guys have a lot in store for the future from some high calibre house DJs to a shelf behind the bar dedicated for different types of rum. Be sure to get down there and support another one of Sydney's fine venues doing their bit to support the underground house music scene, I'm sure you will hear from them soon.

Disclosure - Tenderly

Another fine tune from Disclosure, never disappoints!!

Omar - Feeling You (Henrik Schwarz Remix)

Burial And Four Tet - Moth

I herd Trinity spinning this deep driving disjointed rhythmic tune at the tiki lounge before the deep house nights came to an end. Top tune it sends you to a dreamy state, you could put this on repeat and write a whole thesis on quantum physics to it.

Juke Box - Juliet Sikora & Flo Mrzdk

Really diggin the relax jazz vibe going on here, Juliet Sikora and Flo Mrzdk are showing Hector Couto  their very own deep interpretation of the way a jukebox should be. A foot tapping, finger clicking track, nice contrast of sounds. Love quick shout before the drop at 3:10.

The White Lamp - Its You

Gregory Porter - 1960 What? (Opolopo Rerub)

I want to share with you a track i just cant get enough of at the moment. Gregory Porter - 1960 What? I heard the man of Mad Racket, Simon Caldwell spinning at the launch party of AND's Deep house fridays at The Eastern (Bondi Junction). You know when you hear a track that completely stops you in your conversation and just makes you want to dance well this one did, This jazzy soulful music anthem just simply puts a smile on my face. Big ups to Tokyo Dawns Opolopo for his rerub, he hasn't twisted it too much he has just given it the deep kick and a more synthetic baseline, just enough to give it a bit more oomph for the d floor.
