Robbie Lowe, undeniably one of Australia’s finest and most influential DJ’s for the past two decades is celebrating 20 Years of DJing in January 2014. To mark the occasion, Robbie is playing an 8 hour set this Australia Day Long Weekend on the 25th of January at SPICE where he has been an exclusive resident for almost 5 years.
Staying true to what he loves, Robbie’s consistency as a selector of superior, non commercial electronic sounds see’s him at the top of his game, and has pegged him as the ‘go to’ guy for his talents. He’s set just the right mood for a multitude of internationals for his talent behind the decks and has often been praised by the likes John Digweed, James Zabiela, Hernan Cattaneo & Danny Howells to name a few.
The international scene hasn’t missed out either, with sets at New York’s Sullivan Room and Le Souk along with London’s legendary Turnmills club in 2005 alongside UMEK & John 00 Fleming. He’s been a regular guest at Bali’s SOS Supper rooftop and recently played at Noumea’s Transit Club. Also this year was Robbie’s first trip to Miami for WMC and he played at the well-known Balance party alongside Radio Slave, Jozif and Nina Kraviz.
Robbie’s started his journey into music production with Sydney producer Matt Rowan and since has seen releases on Hussle, Outta Limits, Rococo and Proton. More recently Robbie turned in “Real Time” for Proton Music, and yet another solo E.P. “Floor Jam” for Low Pressings. So far 2013 has been a busy year for remixing, as Robbie’s recently handed in remixes for new Sydney label Deep House Aficionado and Miami’s Xima label.
His flare, personality and diversity as a DJ is something that will have Robbie Lowe kept as Sydney’s firm favourite. Regardless of whether it’s the current residency at The Spice Cellar or setting the standard for the Australian festival circuit, you will always see and hear the passion, skills and talent that make for an understated, but very special DJ.
